I loaded up the above video, and cut out different sections into preset strips. (mic talk, shrug, dance, etc...) and then I just placed the strips where I needed them in the timeline, and transformed them into position.

Thanks, I get it now. I gotta think about the process using the basic structure of the program.
Once I get used to it, I could probably make the type of GIF I made last night much better than I did by instead starting with a green screen ring (rather than a ring with a mat that had the picture I want), cropping out the action, then putting it on a background layer that has the asphalt picture.
