[CUSTOM EDIT PARTS] Oni's Parts Unknown Thread

Basically, pure white is color editable to a full range of the in-game color choices.  Anything not pure white is going to have a very limited spectrum as the default color sort of works like an overlay.




If I made this image in color, the reds and yellows would be right but it would have little usable recoloring options and both the red and yellow would change at the same time, potentially making it ugly if you did get it to recolor



If I made this image, it would show like this by default and could be changed to red and black, yellow and black, etc. but it would always be something and black.  Also, you couldn't make it red and yellow since the white would recolor uniformly - you could make it all red or all yellow but not both.

So I think I would either make both images in their "final form" (black and white, red and yellow), or I'd have to make 4 white layers - one to be red, one to be yellow, one to be white and one to be black, to represent the 4 colors present in the full logo.  Which way I go would depend on how easy it is to separate the colors into independent layers.  If not easy, I may wimp out and just do a color logo, then do the black and white version.  I doubt I would separate the ring from the lion, however, as it looks like the red and the yellow are both used in both parts.  Make sense?

Who requested La Parka at Fire Pro arena? Sorry I can't remember (sure sign I took too long to get around to this).



I built this out of one of the two reference pix provided but am seeing a ton of competing options. I don't know if it's because he's has such a long career or because they've given the gimmick to more than one wrestler but as someone that doesn't follow him, it's a little confusing. I went with 5 layers - a partial face to make the neck black and have eyes/nose/lips showing through, the main face layer, the red design on his forehead (in white, color editable), the hood (my Demolition hood with the most minor altering), and a solid color editable hood trim. Let me know what you think. I see the trim is jagged some times, smooth some times. All the reference pix were close to head-on so I don't know if I've guessed right about width for side views. At any rate, tell me if it's ready to post or needs tweaked in some way.

Sorry, Crippler, I was thinking it was either you or Ripper but couldn't remember which.

I used the art style picture you posted at the old board but had to resize it, so it's possible the eyes ended up further apart than they should be. I will look at the psd file and see if that layer can be narrowed without impacting anything. I'll also look closer to confirm if both eyes from the underlying face are making it through the holes since that's what will matter most. :)

I'll take a look at the trim and see if I can do a new layer with jags; if it's not too hard to get it fairly uniform, I'll give it a shot, but smooth was definitely easier.

Is the Maul mask the other image that was posted at Arena? I'll confess I don't have it any more. But if you can get me a good direct front shot of that one, I will take a stab at it as well.

I've narrowed the mask a bit and added another trim line (wider and more jagged). This is released as LaParka.tex in my google drive if you want to take it for a test spin. I'll work on a Maul version of the mask tonight (no promises on the hood but maybe I can add some soft spikes to a few of the views).



Can you do me a favor? Can you add the new parts to an appropriate La Parka edit and post a link or picture, so I can do a "proper" release in the first post of this thread? Thanks!

It looks good! I did notice in a few frames that the outline pattern isn't filled in (see pics).  Only other thing and it's not a big deal is maybe adjust the black around the face. at 0% highlight it's very dark and at 25% it's pretty grey.

Hard to get a skeleton body suit design that I liked but you get the idea.  The design on the original La Parka's later body suit looks much better.

New version of the tex file posted. 2b is the Maul Mask and 7 is a shot at the weird little pieces on the L A Park hood. Not sure if I like it, but it's there if you want to use it. Haven't looked at it in game but seemed ok in edit mode.

On that note, I did what I could to make sure I filled in the rest of the jagged trim piece and tried to make the 25% highlight a little closer to black. LMK if it works.

Once we get it right, I'd like preview pix for both La Parka and LA Park please, so I can update the front page. I'll admit, seeing the complete edit is kind of making me want to put him in my game. But I don't think I have a good spot for him. My 90's roster is extremely thin so unless he fought for the J-Crown or the Triple Crown, he's probably not going to make the cut. But he does look sweet. You did a really nice job on him.
